What should be paid attention to in the health of the elderly

1. Pay attention to reasonable diet

The diet of the elderly should be regular and quantitative, and the daily food varieties should be rich and diverse, thick and fine, including grains and cereals, miscellaneous beans, potatoes, animal foods, vegetables, fruits, milk, dairy products, nuts, etc., and control the intake of cooking oil and salt. It is recommended that the energy distribution of the elderly be about 30% for breakfast, about 40% for lunch, about 30% for dinner, and snacks or fruits once in the morning and afternoon.

2. Pay attention to the rational use of medicine

Medication should strictly abide by the doctor's advice, master the indications and contraindications, and avoid repeated medication. Do not abuse antibiotics, sedative sleep drugs, anesthetics, anti-inflammatory painkillers, antiarrhythmics, cardiotonics, etc. Do not easily use "secret recipes", "home remedies", "test prescriptions", "new drugs", "foreign medicines" and so on. If there are adverse reactions during medication, the drug can be temporarily discontinued and seen a doctor in time.

3. Pay attention to regular self-monitoring of blood pressure

Before the test, you should rest for 5 minutes to avoid emotional agitation, fatigue, smoking, and urine holding. Measure twice each time, 1 minute apart, and take the average of the two times. Patients with hypertension self-measure their blood pressure at least 3 times a day (1 time in the morning, 1 time in the afternoon, and 1 time in the evening). Be alert to the phenomenon of morning spikes in blood pressure to prevent myocardial infarction and stroke; Hypotension should also be avoided, especially due to improper medication.

4. Pay attention to regularly monitoring blood sugar

Older people should monitor blood glucose every 1-2 months, not only fasting blood glucose, but also 2 hours after meals. When the blood sugar of diabetic patients is stable, monitor blood glucose at least 1~2 times a week. The blood glucose control goal of elderly diabetic patients should be appropriately relaxed, fasting blood glucose < 7.8 mmol/L, and blood glucose < 11.1 mmol/L 2 hours after meals.

5. Pay attention to oral health care

Insist on gargling after meals, brushing teeth morning and evening, and using dental floss or toothpicks reasonably; Oral examination is carried out every six months to repair caries holes in time; Timely replacement of missing teeth to restore chewing function as soon as possible.

Avoid excessive physical activity, try to go down stairs as little as possible, and control your weight to reduce pressure on your lower extremity joints. Increase sun exposure time. Promote a balanced diet rich in calcium, low salt and moderate protein, and improve bone strength through moderate exercise such as walking or running.

7. Maintain proper exercise

The "Yellow Emperor's Internal Canon" mentions that "Tian Tian is vain, true qi comes from it, spiritual inner guard, and illness is never safe". People are quiet, which can reduce a lot of unnecessary consumption. Although energy conservation is required, moderate exercise is also needed to prevent problems such as disease. Sports that are more suitable for the elderly are, tai chi, radio gymnastics, walking, etc.

8. Prevent the occurrence and development of Alzheimer's disease.

Most Alzheimer's disease begins after the age of 65 and is mainly manifested as persistent and progressive memory, language, visuospatial impairment and personality changes. Once the elderly have early symptoms such as obvious memory decline and prominent recent forgetting, they should be diagnosed as soon as possible.

9. Pay attention to adequate sleep

There is a folk saying, "It is better to eat ginseng than to sleep five more", it is said that eating well is not as good as sleeping well. As the elderly change with age, sleep duration and sleep quality will slowly decline. The quality of sleep will be directly related to the resistance of the elderly to diseases. In general, people aged 60-80 should sleep 6-8 hours a day. But sleeping more than 10 hours or less than 4 hours is not good for health. It is recommended to prepare for bed at 21 o'clock every day, preferably from 22 o'clock to 11 o'clock, and should not exceed 0 o'clock at the latest. In addition, pay attention to the daily nap, half an hour to l hours is preferred, before going to bed can drink a glass of boiled water.
