Drinking tea can prevent hypertension, but it can not replace taking antihypertensive drugs

release time:2022-09-30|reading:

Lao Li suffers from severe hypertension and has worked for many years. His blood pressure level has been well controlled.

Not long ago, Lao Li did not know where he heard that there was such a kind of tea with antihypertensive properties, which had no side effects.

Lao Li, who has been taking antihypertensive drugs for many years, heard that there would be no side effects. He immediately became excited. He bought three boxes of so-called "hypotensive tea", brewed them every day, and stopped taking antihypertensive drugs.

But one month later, Lao Li's blood pressure soared to 170mmHg/100mmHg, which scared him to go to the doctor for help.

Fortunately, under the guidance of the doctor, Lao Li "picked up" the antihypertensive drugs again. After a period of adjustment, his blood pressure returned to normal.

Lao Li was a little scared and thought, "Can I still drink tea in the future?"

In fact, there have been some studies on lowering blood pressure by drinking tea, which lasted nearly six years and found that drinking tea can prevent hypertension.

This study analyzed 38913 residents who participated in the community intervention of metabolic syndrome in china and the chinese family health study (cimic), 25.6% of whom habitually drank tea.

After six years of follow-up, those who regularly drank tea - more than three times a week for at least six months - had a 17% lower risk of elevated blood pressure and a 14% lower risk of hypertension than those who did not drink tea.

This study demonstrated the benefits of drinking tea in controlling the progression and incidence of hypertension through standardized clinical blood pressure measurements.

However, it should be noted that this is only a study and cannot be used as a guide to life or diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

And this study only proves that drinking tea may control the progress of hypertension and reduce the risk of hypertension.

It does not prove that drinking tea can reduce blood pressure, nor can it prove that tea can replace antihypertensive drugs.

If we have high blood pressure, as long as we have no discomfort after drinking tea, as long as it does not affect our sleep, we can drink it if we want, without giving up tea because they have high blood pressure.

However, we can not fully believe that drinking tea can lower blood pressure, let alone use tea to replace antihypertensive drugs.
