The 2023 National Medical Device Safety Publicity Week was launched in Beijing

On the morning of July 10, the 2023 National Medical Device Safety Publicity Week was launched in Beijing. Xu Jinghe, member of the party group and deputy director of the State Food and Drug Administration, and Chen Bei, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Government, attended the launching ceremony and delivered speeches.

Xu Jinghe emphasized that in recent years, China's medical device supervision has made great progress, the medical device industry has developed vigorously, and people's health rights and interests have been better protected. In 2022, the main operating income of medical devices will reach 1.3 trillion yuan, becoming the second largest market in the world, and form a regulatory system governed by the Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices, supported by 14 supporting regulations, more than 140 normative documents, and more than 550 technical review guidelines; 1937 medical device standards were issued, with a degree of consistency with international standards of more than 90%; Relying on institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutions, it has established 9 regulatory scientific research bases and 29 key laboratories of national bureaus; Cooperate with multiple departments to establish two innovative cooperation platforms for artificial intelligence medical devices and biomaterials; Establish two medical device evaluation and inspection sub-centers and seven medical device innovation service stations in the Yangtze River Delta and the Greater Bay Area; Up to now, 217 innovative medical devices have been approved, and some products have reached the international leading level; Continue to carry out special rectification and risk consultation of medical devices, thoroughly investigate potential safety risks, strictly crack down on violations of laws and regulations, and ensure the quality and safety of medical devices. In the next step, we must deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, continue to deepen the reform of the review and approval system in accordance with the requirements of "stressing politics, strengthening supervision, ensuring safety, promoting development, and benefiting people's livelihood", and continuously stimulate the vitality of high-quality development of industrial innovation; Continue to promote the scientific research and application of medical device supervision and add impetus to industrial innovation and development; Continue to strengthen system governance and strengthen the quality and safety supervision of the whole life cycle of medical devices; Continue to build a co-governance pattern, strengthen the organic coordination of the four levels of regulatory departments, and improve the co-governance and sharing pattern of enterprise responsibility, government supervision, social self-discipline, departmental coordination, public participation, and legal guarantees; Continue to promote regulatory capacity building, and accelerate the improvement of scientific, legal, internationalized and modernized medical device supervision.

This year's "National Medical Device Safety Publicity Week" lasts for one week, with the theme of "Safe Use of Equipment, Shared Health", the national drug regulatory system will organize a series of publicity activities around the theme of the event, display the fruitful results of China's medical device regulatory reform and innovation in recent years, and express the confidence and determination to strive to ensure the quality and safety of medical devices.
