Shandong strengthens quality supervision of summer drug business and use

In view of the high temperature and high humidity weather in summer, in order to further strengthen the quality supervision of summer drug trading and use, implement the main responsibility of pharmaceutical trading enterprises and user units, and ensure the quality and safety of drugs, the Shandong Provincial Food and Drug Administration recently issued a notice to strengthen the quality supervision of summer drug trading and use, and deployed a three-month special inspection.

The inspection focused on rural areas and urban-rural junctions, with vaccines, blood products, specially managed drugs, centralized procurement drugs, Chinese medicine pieces and large-volume injections as key varieties, focusing on whether the temperature and humidity of storage and transportation meet the requirements, and focusing on business enterprises and individual clinics that have found more problems in the past, more complaints and reports, ineffective operation of temperature control facilities, and multiple punishments, etc., to strengthen the quality and safety supervision of drug operation and use.

The notice clarifies the key contents of inspections of pharmaceutical wholesale enterprises (including pharmaceutical retail chain enterprises), pharmaceutical retail enterprises (chain stores and single pharmacies), and drug users (including medical institutions, centers for disease control and prevention and vaccination sites). The circular requires that on the basis of daily supervision and inspection, all localities should carry out centralized and special inspections on the compliance of storage and transportation temperature and humidity in the process of drug operation and use in view of the characteristics of high temperature and high humidity weather in summer, and increase the intensity of sampling inspections of drugs of questionable quality. When violations of laws and regulations are discovered, they are to be seriously investigated and dealt with in accordance with laws and regulations. At the same time, coordination and cooperation should be strengthened, and all municipal bureaus and regional inspection sub-bureaus should promptly inform each other of relevant clues, and when necessary, they can carry out coordinated inspections to thoroughly investigate the root causes of problems found.
