Nursing Care of Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Herniation with "Three Methods and Six Formulas" of Health Preserving Traditional Chinese Medicine

There are five lumbar vertebrae in the human body, which are close to each other, and the intervertebral disc plays a buffer role in the middle.

The intervertebral disc is easy to be compressed and injured, and the fibrous ring inside will break, allowing jelly like nucleus pulposus to flow out, thus causing lumbar disc protrusion.

Symptoms of lumbar disc herniation mainly include:

Lumbar pain, increased activity, and decreased bed rest after rest; Generally, the pain is transmitted from the lower back to the buttocks, and behind the thigh. The pain is aggravated when sneezing, coughing, etc. In the early stage, it is hyperalgesia, and in severe cases, it is insensitive or numb; Serious people will have greater urinary disorders; Intermittent claudication, that is, after walking (usually several hundred meters), the patient has unilateral or bilateral lumbago, leg pain, numbness, and lower limb weakness, until limping, but after squatting down or sitting down for a rest, the symptoms can quickly or disappear, and the patient can still continue to walk, after further walking, the above symptoms appear again; More than 90% of patients have functional scoliosis to varying degrees.

In addition to actively treating patients with lumbar disc herniation, daily protection and maintenance are also very important. "Three methods and six moves" are recommended to effectively regulate lumbar disc herniation.

  Three methods

★ Flying Swallow Point Water Method ★

Find a hard plank bed. The patient lies on the bed with his legs together, his abdomen pressed on the bed surface, and his head and feet slowly tilt to form a flying swallow.

Hold this position for 3-5 seconds, then suddenly relax and fall down.

Repeat 5-7 times. Once in the morning and evening, it has a good effect on the back and abdominal muscles.

★ Five point support method ★

The patient lies on his back on the bed, bends his knees, puts his elbows and back against the bed, lifts his abdomen and hips upward, and supports his whole body weight with his head and shoulders (1 point), elbows (2 points), and feet (2 points) for 3-5 seconds.

Then relax your waist muscles, lower your hips, and rest for 3-5 seconds.

  ★ Supine pedal method ★

The patient lies supine on the bed, and his legs can pedal the bicycle upward in the air.

Every morning and evening, we do it once, 10-15 minutes each time.

  Six Movements

  ★ Hanging ★

It is to use the door frame or horizontal bar for hanging practice.

When hanging, relax the waist and lower limbs to make the weight naturally droop, so as to achieve the purpose of pulling.

The action should be gentle, slow down, and try to let family members participate in the protection.

  ★ Support ★

It's just waist exercise. It's not suitable for drooping exercise. You can do waist exercise.

Stretch your feet over your shoulders and relax.

Slowly raise your arms and inhale through your nose.

Raise your hands above your head, look at the sky, try to raise your waist, and then stop for a while.

Then slowly lower your arm and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Each group has 36 times, and one group is done every morning and evening, preferably in fresh air.

  ★ Rear ★

That is, waist and back stretching.

The arms are at the waist, the feet are spread out with shoulder width, the whole body is relaxed, the waist is straight and the back is stretched backward 36 times, 1 group every morning and evening.

  Be careful to prevent falling.

  ★ Squat ★

  That is squatting exercise.

Spread your feet shoulder width apart, lift your hands flat, squat slowly, touch your toes naturally, and lift your heels.

36 times in each group, 2 groups per day.

Move gently and squat slowly to prevent falling.

  ★ More ★

That is to say, the waist and exercise in different directions from multiple angles.

For example, bend left and right, bend back and forth, turn left and right, shake waist, etc. 36 times for each item.

The action should be gentle and gentle, and the range should not be too large.

  ★ Down ★

  It's just walking backwards.

When walking backwards, please choose a flat and safe site.

15 minutes each time, twice a day.

Control your speed and be careful of falling.

  Daily maintenance

  ★ Don't sit for long ★

Sitting for a long time, the pressure on the lumbar intervertebral disc is too large, which will accelerate the degeneration of the lumbar intervertebral disc. When bearing external forces, the fibrous ring of the intervertebral disc is easy to break, causing the nucleus pulposus to compress the nerve protrusion.

  ★ Don't bend down for long ★

Workers who bend over for a long time have a high incidence of low back pain and are easy to suffer from lumbar disc herniation.

Therefore, it is recommended that patients reduce bending as much as possible, otherwise, lumbar intervertebral disc rehabilitation is very harmful.

★ Pay attention to rest ★

Bed rest can relax the neck muscles, reduce the pressure of muscle spasm and head weight on the intervertebral disc, and accelerate the regression of tissue pressure edema, but be careful not to stay in bed for a long time.

  ★ Sleep in a hard bed ★

Persisting in sleeping on a hard bed has a good effect on the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.

The plank bed can reduce the pressure borne by the intervertebral disc, relieve the pain of the patient, and facilitate rehabilitation.

  ★ Keep exercising ★

Adhere to physical exercise, especially strengthen the strength of waist and abdomen muscles.

The lumbar and abdominal muscles are strong and the lumbar spine is stable, which has a positive effect on protecting the lumbar spine and can slow down the process of spinal degeneration.

Exercise as much as you can, not too long.

  ★ Keep warm ★

Patients with lumbar disc herniation should pay attention to cold and warm, especially in winter, to avoid wind, cold, wet, cold stimulation of the lumbar spine, and can often do lumbar hot compress, hot bath and other warm physical therapy.

  ★ Diet needs conditioning ★

Eat more foods with high calcium content in the diet, such as milk, shrimp skin, kelp, sesame paste, etc. Bean products also contain rich calcium, and regular eating is also conducive to calcium supplementation.
